GISBH CEO and 21 others plead not guilty to organised crime charges

SHAH ALAM, Feb 12 — A total of 22 individuals linked to GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH), including its chief executive officer Nasiruddin Mohd Ali, pleaded not guilty to charges of involvement in an organised crime group.

The accused, comprising 12 men and nine women, made their plea before Judge Datuk Seri Latifah Mohd Tahar after the charges were re-read separately following the case’s transfer to the High Court.

The male accused include Hasnan Abd Hamid, 54; Mohd Shukri Mohd Noor, 54; Mokhtar Tajuddin, 61; Shuhaimi Mohamed, 57; Muhammad Afdaluddin Latif, 35; Mohamad Sayuti Omar, 36; Mohd Fazil Md Jasin, 58; Mohammad Adib At-Tamimi Asa’ari, 33; Mohd Dhirar Fakhrur Razi, 35; Muhammad Zahid Azhar @ Nadzri, 52; Abu Ubaidah Ahmad Shukri, 35; and Muhammad Fajrul Islam Khalid, 29.

The female accused are Hamimah Yakub, 72; Azura Md Yusof, 58; Asmat @ Asmanira Muhammad Ramly, 45; Mahani Kasim, 55; Siti Salmiah Ismail, 58; Siti Hajar Ismail, 52; Khalilatul-Zalifah Mohammad Jamil, 28; Nurul Jannah Idris, 29; and Nur Jannah Omar, 33.

They are accused of being members of GISBH’s organised crime group from October 2020 to September 11, 2024, at Jalan Desa Bandar Country Homes, Rawang.

If convicted under Section 130V(1) of the Penal Code, they face a prison term of five to 20 years.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Shafiq Hasim opposed bail, citing the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act (Sosma) 2012.

Defence lawyer Datuk Rosli Kamaruddin, representing 21 of the accused except Hamimah, said his team was finalising bail applications.

“Seventeen applications have been filed but require supporting affidavits, such as medical certificates. The remaining four will be submitted this week, and all will be completed within a week before being handed to the prosecution,” he said.

The court set March 17 for the bail hearing for 21 of the accused. Hamimah, however, had already been granted bail of RM40,000 with two sureties on Jan 13.

The case was initially heard at the Selayang Sessions Court on Oct 23, 2024, where Nasiruddin, Azura, Mohammad Adib At-Tamimi Asa’ari, and 19 senior GISBH figures were first charged with involvement in an organised crime group since 2020.

During the initial hearing, all accused acknowledged the charges before Judge Lailatul Zuraida Harron @ Harun. No plea was recorded as the case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court. — Bernama
